Foreign street vendor loses his life in the middle of a fight

The violence unleashed between two singers and a street vendor inside a bus ended in tragedy


In an unfortunate event that occurred last Monday night, February 26, a street vendor lost his life in the middle of a violent fight inside a moving bus of the Mass Transportation System, MÍO, in Cali. Intolerance between three men, two of them regular street singers on buses and a street vendor, sparked a deadly confrontation that left passengers terrified.

According to the version provided by the Cali Metropolitan Police, the dispute arose when both the street singers and the street vendor boarded MÍO at the same time with the intention of carrying out their economic activities, charging passengers for their services. The fight for space and clientele became violent, resulting in the fatality of the 20-year-old street vendor.




The victim, of foreign origin, suffered fatal injuries with a sharp weapon during the confrontation. Despite being immediately transferred to the Valle University Hospital, unfortunately, he could not survive due to the severity of his injuries.

Colonel Carlos Oviedo, commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, highlighted the rapid response of the authorities to the situation. The vehicle was moving with passengers on board when the tragedy occurred, and the driver stopped the bus immediately. The Police, in charge of MÍO's security, arrived in a timely manner to treat the victim and take control of the situation.

The alleged aggressors, involved in the fatal altercation, were captured and placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office to begin the corresponding legal process.
