In Bello, Antioquia, a thief murdered a woman he was holding hostage to escape the community that was after him after he had stolen a taxi. The man, who also suffered injuries from shots and blows, is in critical condition at a care center.
The events took place in the Santa Ana neighborhood, where the alleged thief, finding himself cornered, took the woman hostage and murdered her.
The operational commander of the Valle de Aburrá Metropolitan Police, Colonel José Fonseca, explained that "there is a persecution where this subject seizes a woman, injures her causing her death" and it is "at that moment (when) the community in the sector attacks it".
Meanwhile, the authorities are collecting security videos in the area to identify those who shot the thief and murderer, who has been identified as responsible for the death of Luz Marina, 52, who was walking a dog in the sector.
