Three people dead and one seriously injured in a spectacular road accident on the road to the Sea, Cali
One of the motorcycles did not have current Mandatory Traffic Accident Insurance (Soat)
In the early hours of this Thursday, August 3, 2023, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the road to the Sea, km 16, leaving three people dead and another seriously injured. The impact occurred between two motorcycles that collided head-on: one was heading towards Dagua, while the other was traveling towards Cali.
According to the first investigations, one of the motorcycles could have invaded the opposite lane, which triggered the fatal outcome. However, the authorities are still trying to determine which of the drivers was responsible for the incident, so an investigation has been launched by a criminal unit.
At the scene of the accident, two people lost their lives on the spot, while their companions were seriously injured. Transferred to a clinic in Cali, unfortunately, one of the injured also died, bringing the number of fatalities to three.
So far, the identities of the people involved in the incident have not been confirmed, since they were all without identification documents. In addition, details about the legal status of the motorcycles have been revealed. One of them, with a FTS68A license plate, did not have the Compulsory Traffic Accident Insurance (Soat) or the techno-mechanical review (RTM). While the other motorcycle, identified with the FPX18F plate, did have the current Soat, but also lacked the RTM.
The traffic authorities and competent bodies continue to work on the investigation to clarify the exact causes of the accident and determine the corresponding responsibilities. This unfortunate fact highlights the importance of respecting road rules and taking precautions when driving, especially when it comes to two-wheeled vehicles, such as motorcycles.
