Tragedy and miracle: married couple die in accident while traveling with their 2-year-old baby

A happy celebration turned into a painful disaster for a married couple who were celebrating their daughter's pledge of allegiance to the National Police. Martín Pérez Orozco and Marcela Orozco, residents of Avianca, Pivijay municipality, experienced moments of joy and pride when they saw her daughter take an important step in her professional career by joining the police institution.
However, an unexpected tragedy struck them. On the night of Monday, July 31, while the family was returning from Santa Marta after attending the solemn ceremony of the pledge of allegiance, a terrible traffic accident occurred on the Fundación-Pivijay road.
The couple were traveling on a motorcycle together with their 2-year-old son, when a van collided violently with them.
The crash was devastating and unfortunately, Martín and Marcela lost their lives at the scene of the accident, leaving a deep void in their loved ones and in the community. His son miraculously survived the impact and was rushed to the Fundación hospital, where doctors are fighting to save his life.
The accident occurred near KM 6 of the Fundación-Pivijay highway, by the entrance to the township of Caraballo, in the department of Magdalena. The authorities have launched an exhaustive investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine the responsibility of those involved.
This tragic loss has shocked the community and left his family and friends in deep grief. The baby fights for her life, while everyone waits for a miracle to keep him with them.
