Mother and daughter had a motorcycle accident, but the daughter died for not wearing a helmet

Edith Yuliana Ariza Molina, an 18-year-old girl, lost her life in a tragic accident that occurred on the highway near the La Cuesta Shopping Center, in Piedecuesta.
According to testimonies from acquaintances, the victim was not wearing a protective helmet while she was traveling with her mother on the motorcycle, when they were heading to her home in the Caldas de Floridablanca neighborhood.
The event took place around 10:10 p.m. on Thursday and the circumstances that led to the loss of stability of the motorcycle, driven by the parent, are being investigated.
Both fell to the asphalt, leaving Edith seriously injured due to severe head trauma. Despite being transferred to the International Hospital of Colombia, she unfortunately died due to the seriousness of the injuries suffered. Her mother, for her part, suffered minor injuries.
Different hypotheses are considered regarding what happened. According to testimonies from acquaintances, the young woman was not wearing a protective helmet while they were driving on the highway in the direction of her home. When approaching the pedestrian bridge, around 10:10 p.m. Thursday, it is presumed that, due to excessive speed, mother and daughter collided with the divider.
An eyewitness recounted: "We heard a loud blow and then we saw them lying on the road, we went to help them. The mother was bleeding but conscious, while the young woman suffered a strong impact on the head. The paramedics arrived to assist her and tried to revive her, but she did not respond. The relatives urgently requested the presence of an ambulance".
The Police went to the scene of the accident and an ambulance took both women to the International Hospital of Colombia (HIC). According to witnesses, the young woman suffered a direct impact against the pavement and she was already in critical condition on the ground.
This tragic incident highlights the importance of wearing a protective helmet when riding motorcycles, and authorities urge drivers to comply with road safety regulations to avoid tragedies like this.
