Young Man Dies After Gun Attack

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 20, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in the Luis Eduardo Cuellar neighborhood in Riohacha, the capital of La Guajira, Colombia. Miguel Segundo Núñez Salas, 24, known to his friends as 'Pelo Malo,' was murdered by an assassin in a targeted attack. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on 24th Street with 11th Avenue, in an area known as El Bolsillo, next to a local store.

According to witnesses, a man arrived on a motorcycle, approached a group of people, identified his target, and without warning, drew a firearm, shooting Núñez Salas multiple times at very close range. Despite attempting to flee, the victim was pursued by the assailant, who continued firing until he was sure Núñez Salas was dead.

As the gunshots rang out, those present scattered in search of cover, some checking to see if they had been hit by stray bullets. Amid the chaos, Núñez Salas fell to the ground, gravely wounded.

His friends immediately rushed to help him and transported him by motorcycle to a nearby clinic. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries, which had impacted vital organs.

The assassin quickly fled the scene on the motorcycle he had arrived on, heading in an unknown direction. Local authorities, including quadrant patrol officers and a commission from the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI), arrived to conduct the necessary investigations and secure the crime scene.

Authorities are reviewing the establishment's security cameras to identify the perpetrator and are gathering testimonies from people close to the victim to clarify the motives behind this homicide.
