A 21-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being stabbed at work in Medellin by her ex-partner


A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition at the Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital in Medellin, after being attacked by her ex-partner with a knife. The incident occurred on the morning of November 7 in a commercial establishment of accessories in the district of San Cristóbal, where the victim, identified as Ana Karina Maya, works as an administrator.

According to witnesses, the aggressor, preliminarily identified as Jorge Alberto Macías Manco, entered the premises at about 10:00 a.m. carrying the knife hidden in the pocket of his jacket. Without saying a word, he began to attack her, wounding her in the neck, chest and abdomen, while her co-workers, terrified, tried to get help. The victim, despite her serious injuries, managed to walk to the street before collapsing.

A security video captured the moment when Macías Manco, who has a criminal record for money laundering, drug trafficking and conspiracy to commit a crime, lunged at the young woman and then escaped, leaving Ana Karina seriously injured.

Her mother, Monica Acevedo, expressed her deep fear and desperation, saying that the attacker did not want to leave her daughter alive: "What I ask is that they help me capture him because honestly, we both live alone and we are afraid that at any moment, he could know that he did not kill her, his intention, I think as a mother, he said: if it is not for me, it will not be for anyone, he did not want to leave her alive," she said.

The young woman has undergone several surgeries to treat the severe injuries to her head and other parts of her body, while the family fears possible reprisals from the attacker, who is still at large.

The Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley and the Attorney General's Office are working together to capture Macías Manco, whose identity has been fully confirmed, and an arrest warrant has been issued against him. "We have fully identified the attacker and we are moving forward with the Attorney General's Office in the judicialization process," declared General William Castaño, commander of the police. the Metropolitan Police.
