The political tension in the municipalities of Atlántico, Colombia, has once again manifested itself in a scene of domestic violence in Sabanagrande. In an incident that has left the community in shock, two brothers were involved in a heated fight in the 'El Tiburón' neighborhood, due to differences of opinion about a local politician.
The confrontation occurred last Sunday afternoon, when political passion divided the family. The siblings, a woman and a man, expressed conflicting views about a political candidate in question, sparking a violent confrontation that left her sister injured on the street.
The situation reached such a point that the Atlantic Police had to intervene to control the fight. John Urrea, commander of the Atlantic Police, explained that the uniformed officers arrived at the scene of the incident and found a woman with serious injuries being taken to a care center in a motorcycle. In addition, they found a young man with a minor injury caused by a sharp object, apparently a bottle.
The officer explained that during the police intervention, the injured man was immobilized and sheltered in a residence due to the agitation of the crowd that was seeking justice on their own. The situation became tense, as the community was enraged by the family conflict and sought to retaliate against the aggressor.
According to the initial versions, the altercation originated from the political disagreements between the two brothers, who did not share the same opinion about a local candidate. Fortunately, the injured young woman is out of danger and is being treated at a care center.
The man involved in the fight, identified as Enrique Jiménez Guzmán, 34 years old, was captured for the crime of domestic violence in the municipality of Sabanagrande.
