Man throws himself from the Mother Laura bridge in Medellín

The man's fall led him to impact on the divider of the North highway, at a time of increased traffic

On an afternoon marked by dismay, a heartbreaking incident took place in Medellín. On Monday, August 28, a man, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, jumped from the Madre Laura bridge, located in the Aranjuez area to the northeast of the city.

Eyewitnesses reported that the person in question was on the bridge's retaining rail when he abruptly made the sad decision to throw himself from that height.

The fall of the man led him to impact on the divider of the North highway. Despite the prompt arrival of the authorities at the scene, it was found that unfortunately he no longer had vital signs.

As a consequence of this tragic incident, Medellín's northern highway was forced to close for several hours. This allowed an exhaustive technical inspection of the body to be carried out and the corresponding investigations to clarify the details behind this painful event.

The community in the area is shocked by what happened and it is hoped that this incident will spark a call to reflection on the importance of providing support to those who may be struggling with difficult personal situations.

The authorities also call for solidarity and empathy at times like this, which reflect human vulnerability and the need to be present for those who may need it.
