After the gruesome discovery of a woman's body wrapped in sheets in a shopping cart in Palmira on September 14, the authorities have managed to locate and arrest the alleged murderer, who has accepted the charges brought against him by the Attorney General's Office. .

During a hearing, the prosecutor in the case confronted the defendant with the evidence that incriminates him in the homicide and his attempt to hide the evidence of the crime. "In the early hours of September 14, when he had already committed the homicide, you dedicated yourself to preparing everything to hide the material elements of evidence that could indicate you as the murderer. You tried to clean the scene and hide all the elements that you used to kill her. , which constitutes a crime," the prosecutor told the accused.

The victim, identified as a 53-year-old woman who worked as a street vendor, was brutally and violently murdered in the Las Delicias neighborhood of Palmira on September 12. Her body was found two days later in front of an abandoned house in the Palmas de la Italia neighborhood.

According to investigations, the motive behind the murder was a dispute between the victim and the alleged murderer, identified as Juan Ángel Gómez Chavarro. The dispute arose because the woman had dogs that caused Gómez Chavarro inconvenience, which led to a feud between them. The victim had even previously reported the attacker for personal injuries on September 1.

In an audio revealed by the Prosecutor's Office, it is detailed that on the night of September 12, the alleged aggressor entered the tenement where the victim lived and began to insult her, which sparked an argument. The other tenants hid in their rooms while they heard a loud blow from Juan Ángel against the woman. The victim suffered multiple facial fractures due to her blows and, finally, when she was defeated, the aggressor proceeded to insert plastic bags into her mouth, causing mechanical asphyxiation.

The sectional director of the Prosecutor's Office in Cali, Sandra Eugenia González Mina, declared that due to the forcefulness of the evidence presented, the alleged murderer accepted the charges of aggravated homicide and concealment, alteration and destruction of material evidence. As a result, he was secured with intramural detention.

Investigations continue, including the analysis of technical evidence and security cameras, to determine the sentence that the accused must serve in a detention center.
