VALLEDUPAR - A dramatic robbery attempt left a fatal outcome this Friday, October 27, in the Loperena neighborhood of Valledupar. Carlos Javier Martínez Fragoso, investigative technician of the Prosecutor's Office, was shot dead when he resisted being robbed. The incident occurred around noon at the commercial premises of the Supergiros company, located on Calle 14 and Carrera 12, in front of the Galán Bakery.
Martínez Fragoso, a native of the municipality of Chimichagua, Cesar, was accompanied by someone at the SuperGiros store, when suddenly 2 men appeared and tried to commit a robbery at the store.
However, Martínez Fragoso would have drawn his weapon to prevent the assault, which triggered an exchange of shots. In the middle of the exchange of gunfire, the official was seriously injured, he was helped by passers-by and quickly transferred to the Santo Tomás Clinic. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, his death was confirmed shortly afterwards.
In an unexpected turn of events, one of the alleged attackers was abandoned by his partner in the middle of the street, after being injured. Images captured show how this individual, still unidentified since he was not carrying documents when he was arrested, was left behind by his accomplice, who threw him to the ground before fleeing. The National Police later confirmed the death of the suspect at a local clinic.
The Police, with the support of the SIJIN, are thoroughly investigating the event and have secured the crime area. The process to identify the deceased and clarify the details of the incident continues.
