Trader dies after attack by hitman in a vehicle workshop sector

The 46-year-old man was shot six times while he was in his business, Repuestos Casanova

In Bucaramanga, a merchant identified as Juan Carlos Casanova Ochoa lost his life after being attacked by a hitman in the busy workshop area known as Girardot, located in the Granada neighborhood. Authorities reported that Casanova, 46, was shot six times while he was repairing a tire rim at his business, Repuestos Casanova.

The attack occurred at approximately 8:25 in the morning on Tuesday, April 23, according to the initial report from the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police. Despite being rushed to the Chicamocha Clinic, the merchant did not manage to survive due to the severity of his injuries.

Casanova, who in addition to being a merchant was a money lender, lived in the Cabecera del Llano neighborhood. Witnesses to the incident reported that two individuals on a motorcycle arrived at the scene and without saying a word shot him, and then fled. A video that circulated on social media showed the victim's desperate attempt to ask other workers in the area for help after being injured.

The Police indicated that the merchant had multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, which led to his death while he was receiving medical attention. The authorities, together with the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor's Office and the Police Investigation Section, began an exhaustive investigation to clarify the motives behind the attack.

A police source indicated that the possibility that the homicide is related to a threat over a financial debt is being investigated, but this line is still under investigation. Casanova's body was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine for the corresponding procedures.
