An assault on 15th Street and 13th Street in Riohacha took a surprising turn when two alleged criminals, who tried to rob a local business owner, were confronted by a brave citizen who was passing through the area. The confrontation turned into a shootout, and although the bystander was unharmed, the alleged robbers were seriously injured in the confrontation.
The incident had characteristics worthy of an action movie. According to preliminary reports, the two men entered the commercial establishment with the intention of robbing the merchant. However, their plan was interrupted when a man passing by confronted them with a firearm.
The civilian, who decided not to be a victim of a robbery, responded bravely and shot at the criminals. The confrontation resulted in serious injuries for the alleged robbers, while the bystander emerged from the situation unharmed.
One of the alleged criminals, identified as Iván Carrillo Brito, approximately 28 years old, was injured in the right intercostal area and was taken to a local clinic to receive medical attention. His current state of health is unknown. The other individual, who was wearing a black sweatshirt and pants, managed to escape from the scene, presumably also wounded by a gunshot.
Amateur videos that captured the moment of the shooting went viral in Riohacha, generating consternation among residents and merchants in the area, who witnessed the incident on 15th Street and 12th Street, an important avenue in the city.
