Body found in suitcase, victim's boyfriend is wanted

Isabella Mesa lived in Mexico and had recently traveled to Colombia to spend time with her boyfriend

Medellín, Colombia - A celebration that was initially a cause for joy turned into tragedy when the body of Isabella Mesa Sánchez, 19, was discovered inside a suitcase in a house in the 12 de Octubre neighborhood. Her boyfriend, Sebastián Villegas Córdoba, 21 years old and a professional soldier in the National Army, is the main suspect in the femicide.

The macabre discovery took place last Sunday at 8:20 p.m., when Sijín agents carried out an inspection of the home after receiving complaints. Isabella, a resident of Mexico, had recently traveled to Colombia to meet her boyfriend during his military leave.

Villegas Córdoba, who had been in the National Army for 9 months, was on leave during the time he shared with Isabella in Medellín.

The relationship between Isabella and Sebastian had been going on for several months, but the welcome celebration organized by Isabella's friends was marred by an argument between her and her partner during the party. The situation worsened hours later when both left the scene.

Isabella's family and friends, dismayed by the loss, point to Villegas Córdoba as responsible for this violent act. The victim's friend shared shocking details, mentioning that Isabella received blows and stab wounds, describing her as a good person who did not deserve such a fate.

Due to the state of her body, the exact cause of Isabella's death has not yet been determined, and it is hoped that a post-mortem will shed more light.

The search for the soldier, who was on leave and due to return on February 2, continues as the community comes together to demand justice.
