Ecopetrol employee dies after being attacked by women in heated argument

A tragic event that occurred in Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia, has caused astonishment throughout the country after the death of Ecopetrol worker Demetrio González Flórez, 58 years old. A security video captured the moment when the man, in the middle of a heated argument, was attacked with a motorcycle helmet, which caused his fall and subsequent death.

The incident occurred in front of his son, who was trying to intervene in the dispute between his father and three women, one of whom is believed to be González Flórez's wife.

According to witnesses, the conflict worsened after an offensive comment by the victim towards the women, who reacted violently. One of them, supposedly a friend of the wife, hit González with a helmet, causing him to fall and fatally hit his head.

The worker was immediately taken to a medical center, but arrived without vital signs. The authorities confirmed that the cause of death was the injuries suffered during the altercation. González's family has provided key information to the investigation, which is still ongoing to determine the responsibilities of those involved.

Demetrio González Flórez, known among his relatives as 'Demex', was about to retire from Ecopetrol and leaves behind four orphaned children, two of them minors.
