A violent action that occurred in the municipality of Los Patios, in the metropolitan area of Cúcuta, has left two people dead and another injured. According to the authorities, last Wednesday, August 2, two hitmen aboard a motorcycle arrived at a house located in the La Sabana neighborhood, where they opened fire on several people present in the place.
The attack carried out by the hitmen claimed the lives of two men identified as Juan José Ramírez Alvarado and Joan Steven Álvarez, while a third individual was injured and is fighting for his life.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the violent action could be linked to drug trafficking that has gained strength in the municipality of Los Patios. It has been revealed that Juan Ramírez had barely been released from prison for two weeks and was under house arrest. The authorities are carrying out exhaustive investigations to clarify the details of the incident and determine the identity and responsibility of the perpetrators.
The Cúcuta Metropolitan Police has warned about the increase in homicides in the border area, attributing a significant part of these crimes to clashes between gangs dedicated to the sale of drugs in various sectors of the city, including Villa del Rosario, Los Patios and Port Santander.
Focused on combating drug trafficking, the authorities have carried out operations that have resulted in the capture of several criminals and the seizure of kilos of cocaine, marijuana and other hallucinogenic substances, which are often the cause behind selective deaths in this border area.
The increase in violence due to micro-trafficking has generated concern in the community and the authorities are working hard to stop the advance of this problem and provide greater security to the inhabitants of the Cúcuta metropolitan area.
