Distracted by checkpoint alert, motorcyclist crashes a car in Bucaramanga

The man who considers himself a citizen watchdog blamed the motorcyclist for making a dangerous maneuver

A viral video circulating on social networks shows the moment in which a motorcyclist in Bucaramanga is distracted by the alerts of a man who warns about the presence of checkpoints from the local Traffic Department and ends up colliding with the back of a car in the Real de Minas sector.

The man, widely known on social networks for his activity of alerting live the places of mobility controls of the Bucaramanga Transit Directorate, was the protagonist of this incident. The crash occurred on 64th Street and 3rd Street in the Real de Minas neighborhood.

In the video, the man, already identified as José Enrique Gómez Pinzón, who calls himself "veedor", embarks on his routine work of warning about the checkpoints that motorcyclists will find on their way. "There's a checkpoint...traffic...traffic..." he yells at drivers descending 64th Street.

However, a motorcycle driver was distracted while observing the "veedor", did not maintain a safe distance and crashed into the back of a private car. Some passers-by complained to the "veedor" for having distracted the motorcyclist.

However, the "veedor" stated in his transmission that the accident was caused by a reckless maneuver by the motorcyclist. "The motorcyclist, by trying to avoid and performing dangerous and reckless maneuvers, caused the accident," he declared.

The behavior of the "veedor" has been criticized by the Transit authorities. Carlos Enrique Bueno, director of Bucaramanga Transit, published a video in which the "veedor" is observed requesting money for Nequi in exchange for providing information about traffic operations. According to Bueno, this practice amounts to irregularity in exchange for personal economic benefit.

In the video, the "veedor" requests contributions to continue his peaceful resistance activity. He claims that he is sacrificing his time and stopping work to help drivers avoid checkpoints.

It should be remembered that the 52-year-old man was already arrested last August for obstruction of public roads in the context of protests against the increase in gasoline prices. He regained his freedom hours after his arrest.
