Criminal attacks Sijin agents with a firearm

The suspect, with a criminal record, is captured and weapons and other objects are seized


A shooting ended the tranquility of the center of Aguadas, Caldas, Colombia, on the morning of this Saturday, April 13, when Sijín agents confronted an armed individual. The events occurred near the Roberto Pelaéz school, leaving two people injured, including the commander of the Sijín, who was injured in his left arm.

According to police information, the confrontation broke out during a routine background check procedure, when the uniformed officers were trying to capture an individual wanted for a $17 million robbery that occurred in February in Pácora. The suspect, a 36-year-old man from Pereira, responded with shots when approached by the police.

The quick reaction of the agents made it possible to neutralize the aggressor, who was wounded in the right hand and later disarmed. At the scene of the confrontation, a 38 caliber revolver, a 9mm pistol, gun suppliers, ammunition, laptop computers, lock picks and a motorcycle license plate were seized.




The injured were taken to a health center to receive medical attention for their injuries, which are not serious. The police highlighted the modus operandi of the suspect, who apparently rented rooms in hotels in the municipalities where he planned to commit his crimes.

The individual, with a history of various crimes such as aggravated robbery, illegal possession of weapons, prisoner escape, among others, will face charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms, accessories and ammunition.

The authorities reiterated their commitment to citizen security and the fight against crime in the region, calling for the collaboration of the community to prevent and report criminal activities.
