Customer defended himself and ended up injuring a criminal with an extensive criminal record

A criminal with 11 criminal records was injured when he tried to steal in Barranquilla. His victim defended himself and was captured

Barranquilla - Colombia. Elvis Antonio Hernandez Parrao, known in the underworld as alias "Barbas" and for his extensive criminal record that includes 11 criminal records, was injured after an attempted robbery that ended with his victim defending himself.

The incident occurred this Saturday on 76th Street and 71st Avenue, in the La Concepción neighborhood, Barranquilla, once again revealing the recurrence of this subject in criminal activities.

At noon, Hernandez Parrao entered a clothing store pretending to be a customer. Within minutes, he pulled out a traumatic weapon and intimidated two men who were talking to the saleswoman.

Under threats, he robbed one of his victims of a gold chain and bracelet. However, as he left the store, his victim, who was carrying a firearm, shot him in the back. Despite being wounded, Hernández Parrao tried to flee on a motorcycle, but was hit, allowing the victim to recover his belongings.

Hernández was captured by the authorities and taken to the La Misericordia Clinic, where he remains in police custody.

His long judicial record

The Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla detailed the 11 judicial annotations that Hernández Parrao has accumulated since 2008:

- **Illegal possession of weapons:** five records between 2008 and 2023.

- **Qualified theft:** four records, including a recent case from January 5, 2023.

- **Personal injuries:** annotation from August 2023.

- **Prisoner escape:** October 2015.

Among the most relevant cases is an episode from January 2023, when Hernández assaulted a police Gaula superintendent in the Las Palmas neighborhood.

During the robbery, he robbed the officer of a gold chain, his cell phone, and his service weapon, a Glock pistol. Although he was captured after a chase, he managed to regain his freedom months later.

Elvis Hernández's recidivism has raised questions about the judicial and penitentiary system. Despite having an extensive criminal record and having been sent to prison for serious offences, he was released and continued to commit crimes until this Saturday. The question now is: **Will he be free again?**
