Case of a foreigner found with minors in a hotel in El Poblado, Medellín

The El Poblado commune, Medellín, Colombia, was recently shaken by the discovery of a 36-year-old American citizen in the company of two minors in a hotel in the area. The establishment's security cameras captured the man entering with the minors aged 12 and 13, which unleashed a wave of concern among residents.

On March 27, 2024, a citizen alerted the Medellín Police about the presence of a foreigner accompanied by two minors in the hotel. Authorities responded quickly and found the minors in a room with the man identified as Timothy Alan Livingston.

Major Jhon Villamil, commander of the El Poblado Police Station, highlighted the importance of guaranteeing the rights of minors and announced the temporary suspension of the activity of the hotel establishment involved.

Legal experts have pointed out the possibility that the girls' parents could face legal consequences, including deprivation of parental rights, and have urged the Prosecutor's Office to investigate whether there is any pimping ring related to the case.

Meanwhile, the hotel in question has been sealed for 10 days as a preventive measure. However, the decision to release the man generated outrage among residents, who expressed concern for the safety of the minors and questioned the actions of the authorities. Although the girls claimed not to be victims of sexual exploitation, the individual remains the subject of investigation.
