Woman who murdered a man in El Carmen de Viboral arrested
The crime could be related to complaints of alleged sexual abuse towards the victim's disabled daughter
A regrettable event that occurred in El Carmen de Viboral, Antioquia, Colombia, has generated shock and polarization in public opinion. A 52-year-old woman was arrested by authorities as the alleged person responsible for the murder of a 49-year-old man, identified as Juan H. The event took place on the morning of Saturday, January 18 at the intersection of Calle 20 with Carrera 31, in the San José sector of the Ospina neighborhood, central area of the municipality.
According to preliminary reports, the woman and the man had an argument that escalated into a violent assault. The accused of the attack allegedly used a knife to wound her interlocutor repeatedly.
The wounds were fatal and the man died minutes later. The aggressor was arrested by police officers while she was in the local hospital, where they tried to provide care to the deceased.
The situation becomes even more complex due to the background that linked both parties involved. The Mayor's Office of El Carmen de Viboral confirmed that there were previous complaints before the Family Police Station for alleged mistreatment and sexual abuse against the woman's daughter, a 32-year-old disabled woman. These events, currently under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office, would have deeply strained the relationship between the two, triggering the tragedy.
In turn, the municipal authorities indicated that there were other judicial processes that linked them, including the eviction of a property that had been interrupted to guarantee the rights of the aggressor's daughter, considered a subject of special constitutional protection.
For its part, the family of the deceased strongly denies the accusations against their relative, assuring that the discrepancies between both parties were long-standing and not related to the recent public accusations.
After the attack, a video circulating on social media shows the woman escorted by the police in the vicinity of the hospital, while she asked that they not leave her daughter alone. “Do me a favor and take her too,” the detainee is heard saying in tears, while her daughter, in a wheelchair, watched the scene with evident anguish.
The municipal authorities have intervened to offer psychological support to both the families involved and the young woman with a disability. From the Secretariats of Health and Social Inclusion of El Carmen de Viboral, they seek to mitigate the emotional impact caused by this event.
