Captured extortionist who demanded money from a young woman not to publish intimate videos
With the help of the Police and the Gaula, alias Copete was caught in flagrante delicto
A 20-year-old man was captured in a shopping center in Cartagena while receiving $500,000 pesos from a young university student whom he had been threatening to post intimate photos and videos of him on social networks.
The subject, who called himself 'Copete', was denounced before the Unified Action Group for Personal Liberty (Gaula) of the Police by the victim, who feared that the images of him would be disseminated online.
As reported by the Metropolitan Police, the individual would have fraudulently obtained the photos and videos of the young woman through her cell phone.
After receiving the complaint, the Gaula investigators proceeded to carry out a controlled operation, which culminated in the capture of the alleged extortionist in the shopping center where the victim was summoned to deliver the money.
Alias 'Copete' was made available to the Prosecutor's Office and will have to face preliminary hearings before a Guarantees judge for the crime of extortion, which could lead to a sentence of up to 24 years in prison.
The Metropolitan Police reminded citizens that, in the event of being a victim of extortion, the economic demands should not be met and they should immediately go to the Gaula.
