Concorde company bus ran over a student in Puebloviejo
The community, outraged by the tragedy, set fire to the bus and blocked the road for several hours
A tragedy struck the town of Isla del Rosario, in the jurisdiction of Puebloviejo, Magdalena, this Thursday afternoon, when a bus from the Concorde company, which was traveling on the Riohacha-Barranquilla route, accidentally ran over a 15-year-old girl.
The victim, identified as Marcela Perea, was crossing the road when she was hit by the vehicle, which caused her death instantly. Marcela's body was left lying on the road, still wearing her school uniform and her school bag.
The shocking tragedy provoked a violent reaction from the local community, which, enraged, decided to retaliate against the Concorde company bus. In an act of anger, they set the vehicle on fire and blocked the road as a sign of their outrage over the accident.
So far, it has been confirmed that the driver and assistant of the vehicle left the scene after the incident. Local authorities are working on the investigation of the accident and trying to restore road traffic on the Caribbean Trunk.
