Murder in Puerto Colombia: Two suspects arrested

Alias ​​«Mundialito» murdered in Puerto Colombia. The enraged community captured two suspects


The morning of Monday, September 9 in Puerto Colombia was interrupted by a murder in the Pastrana neighborhood. Luis Alfonso Cantillo Vargas, 35 years old, known as alias "Mundialito" or "Luisito", was killed at point-blank range while he was in a commercial establishment.

According to preliminary reports, Cantillo was sitting in a store called Tienda Bacca, apparently enjoying some beers, when a man entered the premises on foot and shot him repeatedly. Cantillo died on the spot before the authorities arrived.

After the attack, those responsible tried to flee, but the quick intervention of the neighbors thwarted their escape. The community, enraged by the murder, attacked the suspects while they were on the terrace of a nearby house. Videos of the incident, which are already circulating on social media, show the level of tension experienced in the place, where residents threw stones and bottles at the murderers.

Thanks to the collaboration of the community, the National Police of Puerto Colombia managed to capture two suspects of the crime: José David Quintana Gómez and Manuel de Jesús García Pérez. Both were arrested in possession of revolver-type firearms. The authorities have confirmed that the detainees belong to the Los 2011 gang, a group serving the Common Organized Criminal Group (GDCO) Los Costeños, led by alias "El Abuelo."

Criminal history of alias "Mundialito" and his murderers

Alias ​​"Mundialito" was no stranger to violence and crime. His criminal record includes four court records for crimes such as conspiracy to commit crimes, theft, illegal possession of weapons and personal injury. In addition, he was linked to the Clan del Golfo, an armed group that he allegedly served by selling drugs and invading land. Cantillo had been captured in October 2021 during an operation that dismantled a criminal structure of the Clan in Atlántico, and was released on March 23, 2024 after the expiration of terms in his judicial process.

For their part, the two captured suspects also have criminal records, related to drug trafficking, forced displacement, illegal possession of weapons and use of false documents. The Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) has taken on the case to determine the motives behind this homicide and whether it is related to conflicts between criminal gangs in the region.
