In a tragic event, Helmer Luligo Restrepo, commander of the San Antonio fire department in the town of Jamundí, was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon in the Las Acacias sector. Local authorities expressed their dismay and vowed to find those responsible, offering a reward for relevant information.
The mayor of Jamundí, Andrés Felipe Ramírez, deeply regretted the loss of Commander Luligo Restrepo and highlighted his dedication to his service. Through his Twitter account, the mayor stated: "It is very painful for me to have to announce the murder of the San Antonio district fire commander. The facts are being investigated at this time. He was a man with a vocation for service with who we work hand in hand strengthening this entity in the upper area. To his family, my prayers".
According to the authorities, a group of heavily armed men approached the vehicle in which Helmer Luligo Restrepo was traveling and shot him multiple times. The fire commander lost his life at the scene of the attack. Faced with this tragedy, the authorities have offered a reward of 10 million pesos to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of those responsible.
Mayor Ramírez emphasized the importance of bringing to justice those who perpetrate acts of violence against valued leaders like the fire commander. "We cannot allow acts that take the lives of people like our San Antonio Fire Commander, Helmer Luligo Restrepo, to go unpunished.
For this reason, from the municipal Administration, we offer a reward of 10 million pesos to those who provide valuable information that helps to clarify the events that occurred," declared the president.
Commander Helmer Luligo Restrepo is remembered as an honest and respected person, who left a legacy in his institution and in the community he served.
Mayor Ramírez urged honoring his memory and expressed his condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased commander. "His departure from him leaves us with the task of respecting the memory of a man who gave everything and with whom we work to give San Antonio all the good it deserves.
