On a tragic afternoon on Thursday, July 4, a park in the La Cruz neighborhood in Sahagún, Córdoba, became the scene of a fight between two minors. A 14-year-old girl suffered a serious injury to her temple when she was hit with a knife during the altercation. The minor had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the weapon at the Fundación Amigos de la Salud clinic in Montería, where she is stable and under medical observation.
The aggressor, a 17-year-old teenager, was also injured in the fight and was detained while receiving medical attention at the ESE CAMU San Rafael de Sahagún.
Witnesses to the incident indicated that the confrontation could be related to the consumption of illicit drugs, according to the first investigations by local authorities.
Major Joselina Majul, head of the Protection and Special Services Section of the Córdoba Police, called on the community to protect minors: “It is important to activate the protection route for both the victim and the perpetrator. The victim is receiving medical attention, while the aggressor has been apprehended and is in the process of being prosecuted. “We ask the community to take care of our children and adolescents.”
The Police reported that the detained teenager initially faces charges of personal injury, although it is not ruled out that he could be charged with attempted murder due to the severity of the wound inflicted on the minor.
The case has been reported to the Prosecutor's Office and the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, given the involvement of minors in the event.
